It is no surprising to encounter an alert message when using
Boot Camp driver to install Windows 10 on Mac. Because when you create
partitions on the startup drive other than one OS X partition, one Boot Camp
partition, and one OS X Recovery partition, there is a huge possibility to come
across an alert message "startup disk cannot be partitioned or restored to
a single partition."
On the other hand, when the Boot Camp Assistant is upgraded
to the latest edition, it creates an additional partition on the drive. And it
can never function properly, unless the extra created partition is deleted.
In addition, a Microsoft Reserved (MSR) or Windows Recovery
created additionally on the selected drive can also invoke the alert message
whenever you try to part the startup disk. Installing Windows for Mac using
Boot Camp can best
be processed if the driver doesn’t have any conflict with the existing Windows
OS.
To make the tool run appropriately while creating partition
on the drive, it is necessary to delete the additional and unnecessary
partitions with the help of OS X Disk Utility. Microsoft Reserved and Windows
Recovery partitions are seen as unknown partitions with the code
"disk0s3" or "disk0s5" located in Disk Utility.
Bear on mind, removing additional partitions from your drive
may lead to data loss. Make sure you have backed up both OS X files and Windows
files to a safe location. To avoid any kind of inconvenience, you need to be
aware of all important points before you execute the process of deleting
additional partitions. Else, you can approach a reliable Mac support for Boot
Camp so as to ensure
error-free execution.
Here are the suggested procedures:
·
Go
to the Utilities Folder and click on Disk Utility
·
Click
on the Partition tab.
·
Find
the additionally created partitions that can be seen with the name
“disk0s3" or “disk0s5”.
·
Highlight
the partition
·
Select
the Remove Partition (-).
·
Check
if the highlighted partition is mentioned in the window
·
Click
Remove
Once the Disk Utility completes the process, close the window
and restart your computer system. Now you can easily use the tool to reinstall
or upgrade the existing Windows partitions.
